WHEN DO THE VEGGIE BOXES BEGIN?
In 2026, our spring veggie boxes will start on April 20th and our summer veggie boxes will start on June 1st.

SHOULD I GET A STANDARD, Premium, Bi-Weekly , Flex or Mini?
If you are new to the program, we recommend getting the Bi-Weekly. The majority of our customers use this size. It is an every other week standard box, 10 weeks total, which is great for new people. If you know you consume a LOT of vegetables or you like to store things away for the winter, then choose the Premium box. We can always upgrade you! If you travel a lot, or have a busy schedule, then check out our Flex box. If you want weekly fresh vegetables, but need a smaller amount, you should consider our Mini option.

Why does the price go up when I select a delivered box?
All delivered veggie boxes (off farm pick-up locations) incur a one time delivery fee to cover fuel, labor, boxes/bags and any hosting fees. For summer boxes this fee is $60 for regular 20 week boxes and $30 for Bi-Weekly 10 week veggie boxes and 8 week Flex option - essentially $3 per week.

DO I GET TO PICK OUT WHAT I WANT EACH WEEK?
We, your farmers, select the items for your veggie box. We try to balance the boxes as best we can to include many easy to use veggies, and not too many "weird" veggies. When we include veggies that are fringe, lets say Beets, we put out plenty of information on how to store, cook and eat. We don't leave you hanging! Our on farm pick-ups have a trade bin for those veggies you just know you wont use.

WHAT IS GOING TO BE IN MY BOX EACH WEEK?
We can guarantee each box will be tasty! We can’t “force” Mother Nature to have exactly what we want on a set date.

IS EVERYTHING IN MY VEGGIE BOX CERTIFIED ORGANIC?
Everything! Our farm has been USDA certified organic since 2007.

WHAT IF I GO ON VACATION AND HAVE TO MISS MY PICK-UP? CAN I SWITCH MY PICK UP DATE TO EARLIER IN THE WEEK?
Yes. If you are going to be on vacation, you can switch your pick up site/day. You must give us 3 days notice so we can make the necessary changes to our packing system.
Another popular solution many of our members use is to have a friend pick up for the week. Just make sure to give them the password...Just Kidding!
The Flex is Perfect for those that travel.
And if you just can't make it, let's say you are on vacation for two weeks, we will give you a grownby credit for each skipped box (3 days noticed needed so we don't accidentally harvest your veggies). We cannot reimburse for missed boxes but we can help you before you miss them!

WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS MY VEGGIE BOX PICK-UP? CAN I GET IT LATER?
It depends…. If you are able to reach us via text prior to the site closing, we can hold your veggies and take them back to our farm, where we will hold them for 48 hours. If you fail to contact us before we close the site, your veggies will be donated.
We generally bring back/bag up at least one extra box regardless — just in case. So give us a call if you missed the window. You might be lucky!
We do not credit your account if you miss a pick-up.

CAN I SEND SOMEONE ELSE TO PICK UP MY VEGGIES IF I CAN’T BE THERE?
Yes! If you cannot pick up your pick-up yourself, simply send a substitute! All they have to do is give us your name. Your substitute will not be allowed to take home the actual container – just the produce inside. So tell them to bring some bags to transfer the produce into.

IN CASE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER ON PICK UP DAY, WHAT DO I DO?
We define “inclement weather” as severe thunderstorm, hail, tornado warning, scary lightening storms – anything that would prevent us from safely standing outside. If it’s dangerous to leave your house, stay home. If you come to the pick up site and we are not there, you can assume we have headed for shelter. We will contact you via email with alternate delivery details.

CANCELLATION POLICY
We offer a money-back guarantee. If you are dissatisfied with your veggies and wish to cancel, or if you have to move out of the area and cannot continue, please communicate this as early as you can. We will arrange a refund on a pro-rated basis.

DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS FOR THE VEGGIE BOXES?
You can now pay by card!
We also accept Cash and Check.

WHERE TO SEND YOUR PAYMENT
Full payment is due on your first pick-up. Mail your check (made out to Heart Beets Farms) to 181 BayView Ave Berkley, MA 02779.

HOW WILL I KNOW WHAT’S IN MY BOX EACH WEEK?
Each Sunday, we will email you the contents of your Box for that week, along with your newsletter. This list is usually about 75% accurate, but there are almost always changes, especially since we have multiple harvest nights. This list will include reminders about where to store each veggie, common uses for that veggie, and whether you can freeze it. We also try our best to post a preview list Fridays to our Facebook members only group.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE VEGGIES YOU GIVE ME?
One of the strengths of our farm is teaching you how to use your weekly veggies. Each week we help you understand how to store, process and cook your fresh vegetables. We do not leave you hanging! We have a backlog of videos that discuss topics ranging from tools needed to storing tomatoes in the freezer.

CAN I COME OUT TO HELP YOU HARVEST SOMETIME?
Due to food safety and the pace of work, we cannot accept any help in the fields.

I AM COMPOSTING MY FOOD AT THE END OF THE WEEK! IS THAT NORMAL?
When you come to the end of the first week or two, you may find that there are some veggies that you just never got to, or that you don’t like. And they end up getting tossed into the compost pile (we also offer composting @ our farm - just bring your bucket here and we can help). This can seem like a waste of food, and you may feel guilty about it.
We want to encourage you to expect the fact that no matter how great you are at eating veggies, you will almost certainly compost a certain portion of your boxes this summer. It’s unavoidable. That being said, if you find that it’s happening a lot, we encourage you to find friends or neighbors to share with. We plan to teach you lots of “exit strategies” this year to help keep this from happening too much. As a last resort, we invite you to leave some of your unpopular varieties for us to take back to the farm. It will take some diligence on your part to eat your veggies. But it can be done!
